The Ship Inn is a country pub by Langstone Harbour. Dating back to the 18th Century, The Ship Inn started life as a wharf side warehouse handling grain. In the 19th century, the area was also the site of a coastguard station. Cottages were also built by the Admiralty near the pub.
The original mill wheel can still be seen in the Top Deck, the Inn’s function room with private dining. The outdoor patio has views of Langstone Harbour.
From the harbourside you can see Wade Way, an ancient Roman road, originally the only way to reach Hayling Island until the construction of the bridge in 1824.

The Ship Inn was recently refurbished and won the Hampshire County award at The National Pub & Bar Awards 2025. This was in recognition of its community support, staff development and excellent service.
Find the Ship Inn at Langstone village PO9 1RD between Portsmouth and Chichester. The pub is a mile off the A27 on the main road to Hayling Island, just before the bridge.
