Eastney and Salterns, near Portsmouth, is at the SE point of Portsea Island, with Fort Cumberland having strong historical links to the Royal Marines. The area is known for its natural unspoilt beauty, diverse wildlife habitats and rich military and salt production history.

Car parks
There is a free car park along Ferry Road, opposite Southsea Marina and extra car parking on the seaward side of Eastern Road, close to Great Salterns.
Public transport
Eastney and Salterns are well served by local buses. The 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 18 and 20 buses go via Portsmouth city centre. There are rail links to Portsmouth and Southsea from London and Chichester. The Hayling Ferry runs year-round across Langstone Harbour entrance between Portsmouth and Hayling Island.
Cycling
There is a cycle path alongside the Eastern Road and around Langstone Harbour, passing the Great Salterns Lake and Milton Common. This path offers pleasant coastal views and is mainly on dedicated cycle paths or quiet roads.
